Congresswoman McKinney Announces Participation in the 5th Annual International Health Fair
July 22, 2002
(Decatur, Georgia) Today Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney announces that she
will participate as the special guest during the 5th Annual International
Health Fair on July 27, 2002 at Georgia Perimeter College, located at 555
North Indian Creek Drive in Clarkston, Georgia. This event is sponsored by
the Coalition of Concerned Africans in conjunction with Complementary
Alternative Medical Association, DeKalb Board of Health, and Georgia
Perimeter College Department of Nursing.
The International Health Fair offers the services of local hospitals,
physicians, pharmaceutical companies and other medical professionals and
service organizations. Congresswoman McKinney says, "The health fair will
make much needed services like back-to-school immunizations, health
screenings, HIV testing, and nutrition education available at no cost to the
growing immigrant and refugee communities in DeKalb County and neighboring
communities."
The health fair is open to the public. "I am eager to participate in the
International Health Fair because anything I can do to bring attention to the
health concerns of those in our community who are uninsured or lack access to
quality health care will in turn improve their overall quality of life,"
stated Congresswoman McKinney."
