DECATUR--Congresswoman
Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) will host a workshop, Hip Hop Powershop
2000. This workshop is being designed to encourage young Hip Hoppers
to share their ideas about public policy, legislative, and community
issues. "We want to understand, listen and respond to our youth's
concerns," stated McKinney.
Hip Hop PowerShop 2000
will feature a dialogue between new school and old school artists
who will discuss the meaning of their music and its significance.
If you are a critic of Hop Hop or a Hip Hop follower and you would
like to make your voice heard, then this workshop is for you. PowerShop
2000 will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2000, 9:00
a.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Emory University. There is
limited seating so RSVP to Tre'Mayne Maxie or Mario
Chatman in the Decatur Office at (404) 377-6900. "Hip Hoppers are
our next generation of leaders and their concerns are my concerns,"
concluded McKinney.
